Aromas of ripe raspberry, dark chocolate, earthy, perfumed and floral, orange rind/marmalade and cumin. Once the wine opens up the fruit takes on a much darker element with deeper blue and blackberry aromatics at its core. Dark, ripe fruit, milk chocolate mocha truffles, mint leaf, olive tapenade and sweet maraschino cherry dominate the flavors. The tannins are tightly woven at first, but the breadth and complexity are revealed as it continues to open, with a deep, lingering finish. The tannins are integrated and complete, with great layers that seem to build upon themselves. It is a wine of great balance and will benefit from additional cellaring for the next 5-10 years or it can be enjoyed now with a suggested 3-4 hour decant to really let the aromas and flavors open up.
