We have been fortunate now for a couple of years to source this wonderful Malbec from a small 5-acre parcel on the valley floor where the site sits on a gravelly bed / alluvial fan type soils that drain rapidly and lead to rich concentrated grapes.  The warm site lends to increased “hang time” for the grapes in order to develop full maturity and distinction. Malbec in particular needs extra “hang time” even after sugar levels indicate ripeness, because of this our Malbec becomes softer with a plusher texture and riper tannins that lead to juicy fruit notes and violet aromas.

One of our favorite discoveries is our 2008 Malbec. If you enjoy drinking aged Napa red wines, this 12-year-old Malbec will please your palate. Mature and sleek showing baked apple crisp, dark plums, dried raspberry, saddle leather, hints of gravel and a nice earthiness. The tannins are still present and lend to the structure, while nice acidity gives the wine added lift. Decant for 30 minutes and enjoy this wine with grilled meats such as rack of lamb.
